Cipromax TZ Tab

Cipromax TZ Tab

Product Description

CIPROMAX TZ TABLETS:

Composition: Each tablet contains Ciprofloxacin 500 mg + Tinidazole 600 mg.
Family: Cipromax TZ combines a fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent (Ciprofloxacin) with a nitroimidazole antimicrobial agent (Tinidazole).

Pharmacological Action: Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, interfering with bacterial DNA replication and repair. Tinidazole acts against susceptible anaerobic microorganisms and certain protozoa by damaging their DNA. Together, these agents provide complementary antimicrobial activity against selected susceptible organisms.

Indications: Cipromax TZ may be prescribed for selected mixed bacterial and protozoal infections when both ingredients are appropriate. Its use should be based on clinical assessment, the suspected or confirmed causative organisms, and local treatment guidelines. It is not appropriate for every case of diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, or gastrointestinal infection.

Clinical Benefits: The combination offers two complementary antimicrobial mechanisms in one tablet. Ciprofloxacin targets susceptible bacteria, while tinidazole provides activity against certain anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa. This combination may be beneficial when a healthcare professional determines that coverage against both groups is necessary.

Dosage and Administration: Each tablet contains Ciprofloxacin 500 mg and Tinidazole 600 mg. The dose, frequency, and duration should be determined by a qualified healthcare professional according to the infection, patient age, kidney function, and applicable treatment guidelines. Patients should complete the prescribed course and should not use the medicine for self-treatment or share it with others.

Method of Administration: Take orally with water, following the prescribed instructions. Ciprofloxacin absorption may be reduced by antacids and supplements containing calcium, iron, magnesium, or zinc. Follow the product leaflet or pharmacist’s advice regarding the timing of these products. Maintain adequate hydration unless fluid intake is medically restricted.

Usage in Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy only when specifically recommended by a healthcare professional after an assessment of potential benefits and risks. The appropriateness of each ingredient should be considered.

Usage During Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare professional before use during breastfeeding because both ingredients require consideration of potential effects on the infant.

Drug Interactions: Ciprofloxacin may interact with antacids, iron or zinc supplements, certain anticoagulants, theophylline, medicines that prolong the QT interval, and some diabetes medicines. Tinidazole may interact with warfarin and certain other medicines. Avoid alcoholic beverages and alcohol-containing products during treatment and for at least 72 hours after the last dose of tinidazole.

Contraindications: Do not use in patients with a known serious hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, tinidazole, or related medicines. Ciprofloxacin is generally contraindicated with tizanidine. A healthcare professional should review the patient's medical history and current medications before prescribing.

Possible Side Effects: Nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and a metallic taste may occur. Ciprofloxacin can rarely cause serious tendon injury, nerve problems, or central nervous system effects. Seek urgent medical attention for tendon pain or swelling, severe allergic reactions, or significant neurological symptoms.

Precautions: Use only for an appropriate clinical indication. Extra caution is required in patients with kidney problems, a history of seizures, heart rhythm disorders, or tendon disorders. Avoid unnecessary antibiotic use because it can contribute to antimicrobial resistance.

Storage: Store according to the manufacturer's instructions on the original packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
