Family: Dermatological Preparations.
Product Description: LINCODERM CREAM is a combination dermatological preparation designed for selected inflammatory skin conditions associated with susceptible fungal or bacterial infections. Its active ingredients provide complementary anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal effects when clinically appropriate.
Indications: Used under medical supervision for selected inflammatory skin conditions complicated by susceptible fungal or bacterial infections. Appropriate use depends on the diagnosis and approved product labeling.
Clinical Benefits: Helps relieve redness, itching, and swelling associated with appropriate inflammatory skin conditions while providing antimicrobial activity against susceptible microorganisms.
Mode of Action: Betamethasone valerate is a topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching. Gentamicin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Tolnaftate is an antifungal agent that interferes with fungal growth. Clioquinol provides activity against certain fungi and bacteria.
Dosage and Administration: Apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed by a healthcare professional. Clean and dry the skin gently before application. Wash hands before and after use unless the hands are being treated. Avoid prolonged use, extensive application, and occlusive dressings unless medically advised.
Benefits: Helps relieve inflammatory skin symptoms and provides antibacterial and antifungal activity against susceptible microorganisms. The combination may be appropriate when inflammation and a susceptible secondary infection occur together.
Possible Side Effects: Local burning, stinging, dryness, irritation, redness, or allergic skin reactions may occur. Prolonged or inappropriate corticosteroid use may cause skin thinning, stretch marks, pigmentation changes, visible small blood vessels, or delayed wound healing.
Contraindications: Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient. Do not use for untreated viral skin infections, including herpes simplex or chickenpox, unless specifically directed by a qualified healthcare professional.
Warnings and Precautions: For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Do not apply extensively or under tight dressings unless prescribed. The corticosteroid component may mask symptoms or worsen certain infections. Seek medical advice if the condition worsens, spreads, or fails to improve.
Drug Interactions: Inform your healthcare professional about other topical medicines being applied to the same area, particularly corticosteroids, antibiotics, and antifungal preparations.
Use During Pregnancy: Use only when considered necessary by a healthcare professional. Apply the smallest appropriate amount for the shortest effective duration.
Use During Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare professional before use. Do not apply to the nipple or areas that may come into direct contact with the infant.
Use in Children: Use only under medical supervision because children may be more susceptible to corticosteroid absorption and related adverse effects.
Overdose and Prolonged Use: Excessive or prolonged application may increase the risk of skin damage and corticosteroid-related adverse effects. Seek medical advice if excessive application causes concern.
Storage: Store according to the instructions on the original packaging. Keep the container tightly closed, away from excessive heat, and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
Important Information: LINCODERM CREAM should be used only for appropriate, diagnosed skin conditions and for the prescribed duration. Confirm the exact ingredient strengths, units, and approved indications against the original product label before publishing.
